Angling and Sports Fishing (Golden Mahaseer / Trout) |
|
Angling or Fishing as it is simply called, has been and is an admirable sport, although for the discerning few and rightly so, for only a few know how to reall pursue and land a fish. And even they know that they don't know well enough just how to land one every time.
The two timeless sporting fish in India have been and still remain, are the Trout and the mighty Mahaseer, which incidentally is the best fresh water sporting fish in the world. Each has its own peculiarities, its preferred bait, and preference of waters it inhabits. But each has a thrill and experience of its own.
Besides, he varied joys and excitement of a fishing trip in wild places is most definitely a panacea for all wordly cares and troubles, and if you are hooked once to fishing, we promise you will be hooked
for life.
The state of health of the Upper Ganges is reflected through its
fish population , and these are threatened by dynamiting, dam building, road
building, illegal netting, invasion of breeding tributaries etc..
We therefore encourage the sport and have struggled with the government for
decades to allow safe catch and release and for the villagers to catch what they
they actually need, rather than the mass kill in the way mentioned above. |
